As parents, it is normal to go a little over the top when it comes to our kids’ birthday parties. Next thing you need to figure out is how much you are willing to spend on this particular party. Select a theme. Party experts believe that a successful kiddie party starts off with a great party theme. Party themes can be endless and finding the right one can be a daunting task, indeed! Try making a short list of what your kids like — their favorite shows, sports, toys — and then present the list to your child. Allow them to make the final decision. After all, it is their party.

Personalize your kids’ party favors. Keep in mind that kids and adults alike always look forward to party favors. Hence, you need to find ways to make these extra special but not extravagant. Try to stick to your theme when choosing party favors. If it is a Barbie themed party, Hairbrushes, hair clips, nail polish, and lip gloss are all fun and inexpensive ideas. You can also go for candies, pencils and notepads if you are strictly on a budget.

Gastronomic delights. Parties won’t be complete without the food. According to party experts, candy, chips, and burgers and probably hotdogs will be more than enough for a children’s party.  You can also take this party as an opportunity to introduce healthy eating to kids by adding a veggie and fruit plate.  Make sure that beverages are free flowing. A fruit punch (without alcohol, of course) will spice up a party.

Birthday cake. Everyone — birthday boy/girl especially — is excited to see the birthday cake.
