The first step for determining keyword competition is selecting the keyword and executing the query. Once you ask the search engine to search for a specific keyword, it returns with millions of results. In the right hand corner of the page it notifies the number of results on the keyword entered. For example, if we search for ‘Low price mobile phones’, search engine will come up with say 98,768,999 results. This number shows the number of pages indexed in the search engine related to the keyword ‘Low price mobile phones’. But its almost impossible to generate any competitive output with such a huge number of results. Obviously the number these pages contains the results not only for the whole page but for all the permutations and combinations in the phrase ‘Low price mobile phones’ i.e. it will also show the results for the keywords such as ‘mobile phones’, ‘low price’, ‘mobile’, ‘phone price’ and so on.
