Grape seed oil (also called grapeseed oil or grape oil) is a vegetable oil pressed from the seeds of various varieties of Vitis vinifera grapes. Grape seeds contain antioxidants (polyphenols, including proanthocyanidins), which show some health benefits. In particular, sufficiently high amounts of resveratrol occur that it can be extracted commercially.Despite this, these antioxidants are not likely to be present in significant amounts in the cold-pressed grape seed oil itself, since proanthocyanidins are polar molecules and therefore insoluble in lipids. Each seed yields a small amount of oil, so grapeseed oil is usually extracted chemically. The chemical extraction does have an impact on the flavor of the oil, but it makes grapeseed oil affordable for people who want to purchase it. The oil is known for being light in color and flavor, with a hint of nuttiness. It is a polyunsaturated oil, and contains beneficial compounds such as linoleic acid. Grapeseed Oil has a fine texture and is almost odorless, light in texture and is easily absorbed by the skin. It has mildly astringent qualities which help to tighten and tone the skin, which makes it useful for acne and other skin complaints. It is rich in linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid quite important for the skin and the cell membranes. Grapeseed oil has regenerative and restructuring virtues and has great skin moisturizing properties.
